Metaglip is a combination sulfonylurea and biguanide. The sulfonylurea works by stimulating the release of your body's natural insulin from the pancreas. The biguanide works by reducing the amount of sugar produced by the liver and the amount of sugar absorbed by the intestines. It also increases the sensitivity of the cells of the body to the action of insulin, which helps your body to properly use the insulin you naturally produce.
